Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at taniascakestudio@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

To ensure I can give every custom design the focused time and artistic care it deserves, I specialize in larger celebration cakes starting at 30 servings (or a $325 minimum investment). This allows me to maintain the high quality and boutique experience I provide for every client.

Because I provide a bespoke, handcrafted experience for every client, we limit the number of commissions accepted each week to maintain our high standards.

To ensure your date is available,  we recommend booking at least 6 months in advance. While I will  try to accommodate last-minute requests if the schedule allows, our calendar often fills up quickly, especially during peak wedding and event seasons.

Receiving a quote is an exciting step, but it does not yet secure your date on our calendar. Because I personally handcraft every detail, we follow a specific process to ensure your order is perfect:

  1. Review: Once you submit your request, I will review your inspiration and details. I may reach out to clarify any design elements.
  2. The Quote: You will receive a detailed quote for your review.
  3. The Invoice: Once you approve the quote, we will send a formal invoice.
  4. Confirmation: Your order is officially confirmed only once the non-refundable retainer (or full payment, depending on the timeline) is received.

We cannot hold dates without a payment, as our calendar fills up quickly.

I understand that your event day can be a whirlwind of details. To give you peace of mind, Tania’s Cake Studio offers professional delivery and setup services so you can focus on celebrating. I will coordinate directly with your planner and/or venue to ensure your cake is placed perfectly and presented with care.

Our Delivery Policies:

  • Safety & Size: To ensure the structural integrity of your cake, 3-tier designs (and larger) require professional delivery. Smaller orders (1 or 2 tiers) may be collected from our studio in Rancho Cordova.
  • Investment Protection: Cakes are delicate and heavy; we strongly recommend delivery for all tiered designs to protect your investment.
  • Minimums: The minimum order value for delivery is $400.00.

Delivery & Setup Fees: Fees are calculated based on the distance from our studio and the complexity of the assembly required.

  • Base Delivery Fee: $50.00 + $1.25 per mile (round trip).
  • Setup Fees: These are determined by the specific design and the time required to style your cake or dessert table on-site.

I personally prioritize the safety and health of my clients above all else. Most florist-grade flowers are treated with heavy pesticides, fungicides, and chemical fertilizers that are not food-safe. Furthermore, many flowers commonly used in decor are naturally toxic if they come into contact with your cake.

To provide a beautiful and worry-free experience, we primarily offer exquisite, food-safe alternatives:

  • Edible Botanicals: Artfully hand-piped or palette painted or sculpted buttercream flowers.
  • Sugar Paste & Wafer Paper: Hyper-realistic, hand-sculpted flowers that can be kept as a memento.
  • Premium Silk: High-quality artificial flowers for a clean, consistent look.

By crafting your flowers by hand, we guarantee a worry-free experience without sacrificing beauty.

On the rare occasion that a client requests fresh blooms, we have strict safety and logistical requirements to ensure the integrity of the cake:

  • Sourcing: To ensure a perfect match with your event’s aesthetic, I do not source fresh flowers. All blooms must be provided by the client or your florist.
  • Safety First: Only flowers from a pre-approved "food-safe" list will be accepted. I cannot place toxic or high-risk varieties on your cake.
  • Timeline: All fresh flowers must be delivered to the studio 1–2 days prior to your event. This allows me the necessary time to properly clean, sanitize, and food-safe the stems before they are applied.

To make the booking process as seamless as possible, we offer several secure payment options:

  • Credit & Debit Cards: Processed securely through Square.
  • Digital Wallets: Apple Pay for quick and easy mobile payments.
  • Direct Transfers: Zelle (Contact the studio for details).

Please note: As a small studio, I require all payments to be digital. Your order is officially confirmed only once the payment or retainer has been successfully processed.

To secure your date on my calendar, we require the following:

  • Orders under $350: Full payment is due at the time of booking to confirm your order.
  • Orders over $350: A 50% non-refundable retainer is due upon quote approval. The remaining balance is due two weeks before your pickup or delivery date.
  • Weddings & Milestone Events: For Wedding, Quinceañera, and Sweet Sixteen cakes, a 50% non-refundable retainer is required to book; the final balance must be settled 30 days before your event.

Please note: I cannot hold dates without a payment. Your order is officially confirmed only once the retainer or full payment is received.

Retainer Policy The retainer officially reserves your date on my calendar and is non-refundable. As I am the sole artisan at the studio, we limit commissions to ensure every detail is handled with care. From the moment you book, I begin the extensive process of planning your design and sourcing specialized supplies.

Order Changes I want your cake to be perfect. If you need to make adjustments to your design or size, please let me know as soon as possible.

  • Deadlines: Any changes requested after your final payment date (1 week for celebration cakes; 30 days for weddings) cannot be guaranteed.
  • Fees: Accepted changes may be subject to additional charges based on the new design or materials required.

Refunds & Processing Fees While we do not charge clients for the initial online payment processing fees, those fees are kept by the payment processor.

  • If an order is downsized and a partial refund is issued, the original credit card processing fees will be deducted from your refund total.
  • I appreciate your understanding as these are external costs that the studio cannot recover.

At this time, Tania’s Cake Studio does not offer Gluten-Free or Vegan options.

However, I am happy to provide Eggless cake and buttercream options for clients with specific dietary preferences.

Please keep in mind that while we take every precaution to avoid cross-contamination, the studio is not an allergen-free environment. I work with flour, dairy, nuts, and eggs daily. For guests with severe or life-threatening allergies, we recommend a specialized bakery to ensure 100% safety.

Let Tania's Cake Studio make your special day even sweeter with our stunning wedding cakes!
